Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer of the IT Division creates and posts content for the City of East Providence’s website and social media endeavors.  Following the lead outlined in the City’s strategic plan, will work closely with Departments to create, edit, and proof read site content maintaining the site design standards.  Creates and posts monthly articles, photographs and videos that promote, encourage and engage residents, existing and new businesses.  Manages multi-platform digital communications designed to inform, engage and update residents and encourage new business. Additional responsibilities include responding to and assisting social media community.  Coordinating and scheduling social media posts in advance of off days.  Identifying opportunities to provide value to residents and businesses.  Analyze social media and web content through monitoring tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT

Associate degree in marketing, communications or related field.  Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and Photoshop - Working knowledge of HTML and working in content management systems a plusAny other equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the desired abilities, knowledge and skills. This position requires flexible hours including working weekend, holidays and evening special events.

WATER UTILITY LABORER
Pay Grade 30
($33,662)


Under general supervision of a Water Utility Supervisor and close supervision of a Leadworker or other higher classified employee, perform manual work doing a wide variety of semiskilled tasks in the construction, repair and maintenance of water mains, hydrants and all appurtenances on City and/or State property. Duties include pick and shovel work, jack hammering, raking, grading, sweeping, cutting grass and brush, shoveling snow, and erecting temporary traffic signs and barriers. Will be assigned to City’s snow removal operations as required. Auto Equipment Operator I, Utility Equipment Operator, Inspector and Leadworker duties performed as required on a trainee or acting basis. Overtime for water emergencies are a condition of employment. Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience performing manual labor in the construction field; construction work on underground utilities preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License, Hoisting Engineers License preferred. Must be able to obtain licenses within one (1) year from date of hire. In accordance with RI General Laws, must obtain a Water Supply Transmission and Distribution Operator Class ID Certification within one (1) year from date of hire by passing the State written test as a condition for continued employment with the City.

CENTRAL COMMUNICATION DISPATCHER

$39,934.04 – $47,481.56

The job of Central Communications Dispatcher exists in order to provide for reception of citizen requests for assistance, to provide for the operation of radio dispatching services for public safety personnel, to provide for record keeping duties related thereto, and to monitor police headquarters video and audio security systems

Operates communication equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. Receives phone calls for assistance from the public, alarms, and radio messages from police, fire and rescue personnel. Transmits requests for service and dispatches police patrol units, fire apparatus, rescue vehicles and other members of the police and fire departments when and where required. Responsible for data entry record keeping. Work schedule includes either 2nd or 3rd shift and 4 days on/2 days off rotating schedule which includes weekends and holidays. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate with clerical, computer and typing experience, post high school education preferred; and one (1) year experience in public safety, military, or rescue dispatching.
