Employment Notice

CITY MANAGER

$115,000. - $130,000.

Qualifications – per City Charter section 3.1

The city manager shall be chosen by the council solely on the basis of executive and administrative qualifications, with special reference to prior experience in, or knowledge of, accepted practice with respect to duties of the office as hereinafter set forth. In addition, the city manager shall be a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university, with a master's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field. The city manager shall have at least three (3) years of actual experience in a management level position in either the public or private sector. Such experience must include positions with responsibility in any of the following areas: Finance, planning, personnel, public works, public safety, economic development or their equivalent.

Duties – per City Charter section 3.3.

The city manager shall be the chief executive officer and the head of the administrative branch of the city government. The manager shall be responsible to the council for the proper administration of all affairs of the city and to that end he shall have power and shall be required to:

(1)       Appoint and, when necessary for the good of the service, remove all officers and employees of the city except as otherwise provided by this Charter and except as he may authorize the head of a department or office to appoint and remove subordinates in such department or office, making appointments and promotions in the service of the city according to merit and fitness;

(2)       Prepare the budget annually and submit it to the council and be responsible for its administration after adoption;

(3)       Prepare and submit to the council as of the end of the fiscal year a complete report on the finances and administrative activities of the city for the preceding year;

(4)       Keep the council advised of the financial condition and future needs of the city and make such recommendations as may seem to him desirable;

(5)       Perform such other duties as may be prescribed by this Charter or required of him by the council, not inconsistent with this Charter.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
 RECREATION POSITIONS


PART-TIME/SEASONAL

We are currently hiring part-time recreational staff for our 2014 summer programs to conduct recreation activities such as arts and crafts, sports, special events and day camp.

       Recreation Head Supervisor $10.00/Hr.

Mature, responsible individual needed to assist in the supervision of seasonal summer staff as well as youth ages 6 – 15. Duties include overseeing the day to day activities of the summer program venues; responsible for maintenance and organization of site logs including attendance records, accident/injury reports, sports equipment and supplies. Work 30 - 35 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 – 8/8/14, Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 3:30PM. 

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Three to five years experience in a supervisory capacity with parks and recreation programs. Some college preferred.


     Recreation Center Supervisors   $8.50/Hr.

 Mature individuals needed for the supervision, maintenance, and securing the recreation center facility. Must be prompt, responsible and able to work independently. Duties include assisting center members, disseminating information to the public, light clerical and cleaning, and locking/securing the facility. Work 8 - 10 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 - 8/8/14 Monday - Thursday 4PM - 7PM.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Supervisory experience and knowledge of weight training and exercise programs preferred. 


      Recreation Camp Leaders   $8.50/Hr.

Mature individuals needed for the supervision of youth ages 6 - 15. Must be prompt and reliable, and provide safety, order and must maintain discipline at all times. Duties include implementation and coordination of athletic and artistic activities; chaperoning field trips and special events. Work 30 - 35 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 - 8/8/14 Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 3:30PM.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with some experience in supervising youth. High School Diploma or GED required.

 

Special Needs Recreation Leaders   $9.00/Hr.

 Mature individuals needed to supervise and assist developmentally and physically delayed youth and young adult participants of recreation summer programs. Must be prompt and responsible. Duties include implementation and coordination of athletic and artistic activities; chaperoning field trips and special events; and assisting participants as needed. Provide for safety, order, and must maintain discipline at all times. Work 30 - 35 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 - 8/8/14, Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 3:00OPM.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Experience working with special needs population preferred.

 

Enrichment Leaders   $11.00/Hr.

Mature individuals needed to assist in the implementation of the Summer Learning Program. Duties include assisting teachers and camp staff in providing care, guidance, and supervision of youth campers; prepare lesson plans and lead enrichment activities; ensure safety and behavior protocols are adhered to and perform rescue/first aid when necessary; follow accident reporting procedures; participate in recommended training, conferences, and courses as required by grant and program regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age with some experience in supervising youth. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. First Aid/CPR Certification required by June 30, 2014. Work 30 - 35 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 - 8/8/14, Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 3:30PM.

 

Bus Drivers   $10.00/Hr.

Bus drivers needed for summer programs to operate mini-bus transporting children and teens. Work 30 - 35 Hrs. Per week beginning 6/30/14 - 8/8/14, Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 3:30PM

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bus drivers must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement. Three to five years experience in the operation of school buses or large vans.
