HVAC Maintenance Mechanic

Under the general direction of the Facilities Director, perform highly skilled tasks in accordance with standard trade practices and codes on air systems used in heating, ventilation, and refrigeration. Maintain, repair, operate and install air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems that use Freon or chilled water. May install, modify, repair and assemble electrical or pneumatic controls for this type of equipment. Monitor computerized control systems and perform tests for fuel gravity and gas leaks. Inspect and repair steam traps and remove pipe insulation materials according to OSHA standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must possess a Rhode Island State Refrigeration License issued by RI Department of Labor and Training, Office of Professional Regulation (Pipefitters/Refrigeration) and must maintain such license as a condition of employment. Minimum of ten years of experience and training necessary to meet the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of the job. Must be in general good health with oral and written communication abilities sufficient to properly interact with co-workers, supervisors, contractors and other city professionals.
