Temporary Clerical Help
$10.00 – $15.00 depending on duties
The City of East Providence is looking for individuals who are interested in temporary clerical positions that are needed at various times throughout the year. These positions may be intermittent or up to several months in length as needed. Employees may be assigned work in any City department.
This is on-call work of a routine clerical/secretarial nature filling in for regular City employees who are temporarily absent or to provide additional clerical support to complete special short-term projects.
Work generally involves answering telephones and interacting with the public; photocopying materials; distributing mail; filing a variety of material according to established department procedures; archiving materials and physically moving boxes to appropriate area; and word processing or typing correspondence, reports and forms.
Work assignments may involve data entry or cashiering; performing recordkeeping; using computers for word processing, data entry and spreadsheet assignments; transcribing from dictation equipment; and processing purchase orders.
Deals tactfully and courteously with the public, coworkers, and other City employees, occasionally in difficult customer service situations.
High school diploma or equivalent. Some previous clerical/administrative experience working with Windows software applications preferred; knowledge of alpha/numeric filing systems.
